El pasado viernes 7 de Octubre dio inicio a una post-temporada inédita, pues se jugaba por primera vez una serie por los comodines de manera múltiple, involucrando a 8 equipos, anteriormente solo se jugaban un par de serie bajo esta modalidad, pero ahora se realizan un total de 4, dos partidos por cada liga, para luego darle paso a las series divisionales, Guardianes, Rays, Phillies, Cardenales, Jays, Mariners, Padres y Mets eran los encargados de estrenar este nuevo formato, logrando conformar series muy atractivas, como para darle más oportunidad a equipos que en el pasado se quedaban en el camino, por no alcanzar las victorias necesarias, debido a la poca cantidad de cupos disponibles para poder avanzar un poco más en el torneo.

En una serie tan corta, podemos observar los números de manera mas precisa, y mas en esta, en donde solo se anotaron 4 carreras en 2 partidos entre los 2 conjuntos, jugando también un papel fundamental la defensa, en el segundo compromiso en mas de una ocasión el conjunto de los Rays de Tampa, dejaron corredores en circulación, quedándose a nada de anotar, pero no fue si no gracias a la gran defensa del conjunto Guardián, que impidió que eso sucediera.
