"Uno no piensa en esto, uno piensa en hacer lo mejor que puede, nunca creí que el Salón de la Fama fuera a ser la respuesta" fueron las palabras del jugador Scott Rolen luego de que se conociera sobre su ingreso al templo de los inmortales, esta es una de las cosas en la cual un jugador nunca se imagina cuando inicia su carrera profesional en este deporte, son cosas que no se les enseñan como tal, pero son el resultado de toda su trayectoria en las grandes ligas, un reconocimiento a todo lo logrado, quizás si piensan en eso en algún momento, pero en el transitar de su carrera, como que se enfocan más en la competencia, más allá de que sus actuaciones los lleven algún día a este Salón, que para muchos es la realización o el sello a su trabajo en MLB.

Una vez más este humilde servidor se siente orgulloso de ver como un jugador de mi época llega hasta donde ha llegado Scott Rolen, un pelotero de los años 90’ muy acorde a mis vivencias de este deporte, y recuerdo perfectamente como si fuese ayer, como lo veía en mi colección de baratijas de béisbol de la marca norteamericana muy conocida ‘‘Topps’’, además con el sello de una marca especial de: ‘‘Rookie of de year’’, haciendo alusión de que era el novato más destacado de esa temporada de 1997 con el equipo de los Phillies, y lo que iba a ser la primera de las 17 que tuvo en las grandes ligas, con el majestuoso talento de su guante y su bate.

Analizando todo lo que mi buen amigo me decía, nos vamos a la profundidad del tema y logramos observar, de qué Rolen, era junto a Chipper Jones y Vinny Castilla los tercera bases más destacados de esa época, yo me pongo a ver y a investigar y es muy cierto, todos los demás tercera bases de ese momento no eran del todo contundentes en sus actuaciones como la de estos tres mencionados, lo que nos lleva a darnos de cuenta de que Rolen, si estaba en la órbita de los jugadores de su ‘‘posicion’’ en ese periodo de tiempo, dando más razón de peso a que, Chipper Jones ya ingreso no así Castilla pero igual fue muy bueno incluso con números muy similares a los de Rolen.
