luckily we happen to have some coconut trees in our garden and this is a photo of one of the more prolific ones.
coconuts may not be the first thing that comes to mind when the topic is fruit. maybe that is because the name makes is sound like a nut. in fact the coconut botanically is not really a nut but rather a drupe, (think peaches, plums and apricots which have a single kernel inside the stone) more specifically a dry drupe and is therefore definitely a fruit. fortunately coconuts are always in season as new ones are being produced continuously.
