I have posted here from Fredriksvern Verft before on monomad but this time is different, there are 5 of these boatbuilding sheds from the 1760's with a narrow passage between them. this view is the front side with the painted profiled paneling but the passageways have rough sawn horizontal planks. though the term shed may conjure up an image of a small outhouse these buildings are large and spacious enough to build the ships for the naval base. the nice foggy day gave these passageways a very different feel than the sunny day when i was here last time. each of the 4 passageways are similar but none the same, in particular from inside them the limited view through to the ends, both seaward and landward are all different.
here well inside. last year there was a hurricane that blew off quite a few roofing tiles so the ground is full of broken bits and pieces. just recently there was another storm, not as bad as the year before but strong enough to blow off a few tiles here and there
the storm and sea placed this branch at the end of this passageway. the fog was so thick that the island 1 km offshore was all but invisible.
the elements did the arranging. i just was lucky to be there at the right time.
not so far inside one of the other passageways i noticed a woman walking past. by the time i was able to get a shot she was already on the way out of sight. maybe i was just a second too late, or then again maybe not.
the landward view through a different passageway
ok got to go. i took these shots with my S22 phone on October 31st and i didn't want to be here after dark.
