all the boats are in dry dock for the winter and the floating partitions have been raised to avoid damage from ice
this is the view from the molo looking back toward land
the sea is often relatively calm inside the molo but on this day the wind was very light also so the water was unusually smooth
and the reflection of the underside of the wooden partitions was close to mirror quality yet still the bottom of the harbor was visible if i looked straight down
this is my entry shot- the reflection is very clear. some of the wood is nice and straight but a tiny wave manages to curve some also. this is quite unexpected. for the reflection of the wood to be completely straight the water must be still. likewise for the reflection to distort the shape of the wood it cannot be still. here both are going on at the same time.
and i like the slightly shady lighting of the wood. the platform is not raised high enough to receive direct sunlight. the underside is lit from sunlight reflected off the surface of the water. the unevenness of the lighting is due to the water not being perfectly flat.
also in this shot it is obvious that when viewing straight down as in the bottom of the photo, one can see through to the growth at the bottom but
at the top of the photo the water is opaque with the reflection of the sky and clouds. this is due to the different viewing angles
the view towards the molo
