Hello @avdesing, I am uncertain if being optimistic is a decision like choosing to have coffee with or without milk. Although I interpret that when the text refers to making a decision, it refers to taking a path of self-discovery, which culminates in a different assessment of ourselves and the world around us.

That point is very well expressed:
