Grace and peace to you from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ.
In my new message we will discuss the main purpose of the prayer. In that sense, it is very important that we understand that the main purpose of prayer is not to obtain things from God, but to better understand his will. Prayer does not necessarily take away pain, but it helps us endure it. It is not an attempt to make God change his intentions, but to modify our mind and our way of thinking. The apostle Paul said:
Let there be in you this feeling that was also in Christ Jesus (Philippians 2: 5).
Prayer is not to present an action plan and expect God to carry it out for our benefit, but to discover what your plan is for us and accept it. Simply put, prayer is an opportunity to be completely in harmony with God's will and purpose for our lives.
God has never promised us that all our desires will be fulfilled. The only condition that should always accompany our requests is "if this is in accordance with his will", because God knows what is best for us.
Not even Jesus, the Son of God, received everything he asked the Father while he was on earth. In the garden of Gethsemane, when his soul was in deep agony and anguish, he prayed:
My father, if possible, pass me this cup.
That was the sincere desire of his heart when he was going through the toughest test in favor of fallen humanity. However, he added:
But not as I want, but as you (Matthew 26:39).
Jesus applied here the model principle according to which we should all ask God to answer our prayers according to his will and not ours.
Similarly, our prayers to resolve difficulties are not always answered in the way we want.
This is because God expects us to use our common sense, based on the Christian knowledge we have acquired. God does not decide for us, because he wants us to develop and strengthen our mind so that we learn to make correct decisions, based on Christian principles. Some decisions we must make are obvious. Others will need more time and prayer.
