Today my message will refer to self-esteem as an important way to value and accept ourselves as we are.
It is important to remember that we were created in the image and likeness of God, therefore, we must have a high value of ourselves, with a healthy mentality and emotions. However, the crisis of values that society lives with its respective turbulence in human relationships, has allowed our psychological and emotional aspects to be disturbed by the turmoil and the crisis of values of society.
In many situations we lose control of ourselves and begin to fill our hearts with resentment and rejection, both with the people around us and with ourselves.
Knowing how you see yourself and how you accept yourself plays an important role in respecting yourself and self-acceptance.
If you feel self-loathing, doubt yourself, abuse your body with a poor diet or bad habits, or if you tend to be the last in the list of people to whom you perform any task, then you do not understand the value it has .
It is necessary to understand that self-respect begins with the acceptance of oneself. If my self-image makes me invade negative thoughts, it is because I have low self-esteem. What should I do as a Christian?
I must remember that I am made in the image and likeness of God. All disturbance and emotional blockage, I must take it to the feet of Christ. The Word says: "Come near to me all who are tired and worked, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). We were not created to function without God. With Him, we can break the emotional and spiritual ties that prevent us from seeing ourselves as true children of God made in his image and likeness. If we carry all these things at the feet of Christ, we will be resting in his arms, and only we can see ourselves while the Father looks at us through his son Jesus Christ. We will begin to give a good treatment to our body which is the temple and the abode of the Holy Spirit and we will develop the capacity to accept ourselves and, in the same way, we will develop passion and much love towards our neighbor.
When you and I overcome the crisis of self-esteem, we managed to develop an effective and prosperous Christian life, based on the basic principles of the Word of God. This will help us understand the importance we have in God's great plan. In that sense, we must take care of ourselves, accept ourselves and strengthen our self-respect, to be prepared for the great future that God has for us.
