With how quickly things move in the cryptocurrency space it’s always best to keep an eye open on the horizon. As you never know what the next day could bring. With summer around for many and people wanting to enjoy the outdoors instead of being inside working on their games, I do suspect these will be some slow posting months. Regardless over the past couple of months, I’ve been working on some things.
Game development is quite a time-consuming and daunting task for anyone to take on. Even more so for those brave few who choose to blog about their experiences and provide updates from time to time on their progress. Such efforts have not gone unnoticed.
Back at the end of May, we had some interesting news that the Game Development community was ranked 132 for the year regarding rewards. As quite a niche community that is awesome to see.
Even more so when you have not seen any major curation partnerships announced. You might have noticed that from time to time some outstanding posts get larger votes on them within the community. That is because despite no weekly or monthly curation posts being made the community is getting curated by a few different groups.
I have over the past few months reached out to or been contacted by several individuals and groups. If the community ends up growing to a point where setting up a more formal curation style of posts/account make sense for the time invested. I will more than take that route. For now, that is not required.
I do on occasion share posts to try and get them bigger upvotes if they stand out. As a former curator myself that worked with several curation guilds in the past I do have my ways to get outstanding content some more eyeballs. While that is great for some posts it is also quite a subjective thing.
Many have asked if and when I’ll be creating a coin for the game development community. At this time with it being around $800+ for everything needed the last time I looked on Hive Engine. That is still a bit pricy for the size of the community. So for now it’s not a viable option.
That is also why I’ve been keeping an eye on some other projects. One that has piqued my interest for a little while now is Pizza Token. While there are a couple of gaming-related tokens out there in the Hive ecosystem this one stands. They are looking to do quite some interesting things from having a game store to buy Steam games to having game services. This could create some interesting opportunities for the Hive ecosystem.
There is also another great thing about Pizza token. You only need to buy so many tokens before they allow you to call down an action on the blockchain to reward someone with a small amount of Pizza token! As such I have bought enough to have 200 Pizza tokens. I will mostly be using them to reward game development posts. This is a fun way to give those taking the time to post within the game development community something extra.
Will I buy buying up a bunch of different tokens to reward posts with? No. While I do hold several different tokens to reward people depending on the tags they use. I’m not looking to go out of my way to spam comment sections with dozens of calls to reward people with lots of different tokens. Pizza is a special case with how involved they are looking to get into gaming on Hive.
I have also mentioned a couple of times for game development to take off on Hive we need things like SDK on different game engines. This has not gotten very far since Hive still lacks a layer 1 smart contact system. With there now going to be multiple projects having their own “SMT” or smart contracts in the future. This still seems like a wait-and-see how things further develop along as 2nd layer solutions on Hive develop over time.
While there have been some community features added on PeakD for communities. I have not enabled any since my last community update. Not every feature that gets rolled out will be included or added. For instance, having a minimum beneficiate set towards the community was not something I wanted to enable. As always I’ll be on the lookout for new community options and enabling anything I see the community needs.
I hope everyone has been having fun in the sun and getting a little work done on their games as well.
