That's right, that's called sexist language and it's a bias. In some languages it is even worse, as they have a property called linguistic gender, where you have to use one article for female people and female objects and another article for male people and male objects, as most words have a gender and there is a convention where the article for males must include and overlap female words, too . Spanish is one such example. Grammar experts argue that there is a confusion between social/biological gender and linguistic gender and that it should not be the fault of the language, but it is still expressed as a bias in social behavior.
Other languages do not have such linguistic gender, but still have the convention of favoring words for one gender over the other, as in this case. Interestingly, I have noticed that some translators favor the word "she" in favor of "he" when you refer to someone whose gender you don't know. I have yet to look for the reason for that.
And on the other hand, Lichess is open source. I haven't heard of Lichess using bots to emulate human play in anonymous games, but it's easy to look it up. I'll find out later.
