You can't force change the same way you can't force a flower to bloom before it's ready.
Nothing shows change more than this Chilean flower called the Puya Alpetris (Sapphire Tower). This flower is characterized by an unearthly, metallic-looking turquoise blooms punctuated by bright orange anthers, the sapphire tower looks like nothing else in the plant world. It only blooms during one season of the year and it does not bloom every year thus a rare sight.
It is a native of the high barren slopes in the Chilean Andes, the Puya alpestris is a member of the pineapple family, with flowers measuring 2 inches across with a number of them blooming up an 18-inch spike, or “tower,” over two to three weeks. Luckily there is one here in San Diego at the botanical garden to share this remarkable plant.
