From Conuco Harvests to Daily Wonders in the Garden / De las Cosechas del Conuco a las Maravillas Diarias en el Jardín

ING-ESP

Hello to the entire community of the Hive blockchain! I send you a very warm greeting from this green corner where the daily rhythm is marked by the cycles of nature, the morning sun, and the constant work of the land. Before heading out to harvest turmeric in my beloved garden today, I paused for a moment to observe a papaya plant—or lechoza, as we affectionately call it around here—wondering what the exact secret might be to make it truly lush, vigorous, and heavy with great fruits. Observing every single leaf and noticing how the trunk develops is part of the daily routine when you live connected to the soil, always learning from what works and what doesn't in our tropical climate.

The Promise of Breadfruit and Kitchen Treasures / La promesa del palo pan y tesoros de la cocina

Life in the conuco is full of long-term investments and immediate blessings. I would also love to show you a small breadfruit (palo pan) tree, a true agricultural delicacy that is exceptionally delicious when harvested, roasted, or boiled once it reaches maturity. I imagine this little tree will probably take about five years to yield its very first crop, but taking care of it during its youth is a labor of love and immense patience.

And speaking of kitchen treasures, I want to display on the wooden table some wonderful corn cobs that I recently gathered directly from the garden plots. These ears of corn represent months of watching the stalks rise, protecting them from pests, and making sure they received just the right amount of moisture. Holding them in your hands after a successful harvest gives you an indescribable sense of satisfaction and fulfillment.

Yellow Pumpkin and Nutritious Bledo / Auyama amarilla y el nutritivo bledo

Of course, in any traditional garden layout, a small yellow pumpkin—the sweet and flavorful kind that makes incredible soups and side dishes—could never be missing from our daily bounty. Alongside it, we must always highlight the wild bledo plant, also known around here as pira or Caracas weed; it springs up naturally, is wonderfully nutritious, and I love adding its tender leaves into our traditional daily stews to boost both flavor and health benefits.

🌿 The Turmeric Harvest: Unearthing Gold / La cosecha de cúrcuma: Desenterrando oro

To wrap up today's journey across the land, I finally dedicated myself to the task of pulling up a mature turmeric plant, as you can clearly observe in the upcoming images. Turmeric is truly a gift of the earth, providing magnificent medicinal properties and a vibrant color that transforms any recipe. Working the soil gently around the roots is crucial so as not to damage the rhizomes that have been hiding underground for months.
