My Christmas Pets
Over the weekend I took some pictures of my pets, I don't know what inspired me to do it, but I think one of the reasons is to keep in mind that the life of pets is very short, so I wanted to take advantage of the fact that we have arrived together to another Christmas and to collect memories. I started very excited with the post-production; preparing lights, bulbs and the scenery, however, as the hours went by I understood that my pets were not in the mood to be models for any photographer, not even me, as I am their mom.
Mis Mascotas navideñas
El fin de semana tomé algunas fotografías de mis mascotas, no sé bien qué fue lo que me inspiro para hacerlo, pero creo que uno de los motivos es tener en cuenta que la vida de las mascotas es muy corta, así que quise aprovechar que hemos llegado juntos a otra navidad y poder coleccionar recuerdos. Empecé muy animada con la postproducción; preparando luces, bombillos y el escenario, sin embargo, con el pasar de las horas entendí que mis mascotas no tenían ánimos de ser modelos para ningún fotógrafo, ni siquiera yo, que soy su mamá.
Anyway, I took some more or less decent pictures. My little dog "Calicuchima" has never liked the camera, but this time she got stressed from the moment I put her mom Noela's clothes on her, and when it was the turn of the cat called "Pepino" it was extremely funny. I had a red bow and a shirt ready for Mr. Cucumber, so after I dressed him and put the bow he started to walk backwards like a crab haha I didn't understand what happened to him, so I had to take off his clothes, then it was time to convince them to go to the wall where there were Christmas ornaments.
As for the photos, I tried to take them from different angles, with background, with Christmas lights and others with blur. The main idea was to capture the expression of the animals, for this I approached them slowly avoiding them to be scared and I spoke to them sweetly so they would relax.
De todas formas, tome algunas fotos más o menos decentes. A mi perrita “Calicuchima” nunca le ha gustado la cámara, pero esta vez se estresó desde el momento que le puse su ropa de mamá Noela, y cuando fue el turno del gato que se llama “Pepino” fue sumamente divertido. Al señor pepino le tenía preparado un lazo rojo y una camisa, así que luego de vestirlo y ponerle el lazo comenzó a caminar hacia atrás como el cangrejo jaja no entendí qué fue lo que le paso, así que tuve que sacarle la ropa, luego era momento de convencerles a que se acerquen a la pared donde había adornos navideños.
En cuanto a las fotos, intente tomarlas desde diferentes ángulos, con fondo, con luces navideñas y otras con desenfoque. La idea principal era capturar la expresión de los animales, para ello me acerqué despacio evitando que se asusten y les hable con dulzura para que se relajen.
This is my first time doing this, since I usually capture photographs without planning, I'm sure there are techniques to do this kind of work; I came up with the idea of putting sausages on a fork and placing them next to the camera to capture their attention, which sometimes worked for me. The cat benefited the most because, thanks to his cunning, he caught the food very quickly. After a while, a bit tired, I decided to leave them alone and started to edit the photos with some Christmas frames from Canva to make them look more animated.
Es mi primera vez haciendo esto, ya que, por lo general, suelo capturar fotografías sin planear, estoy segura de que hay técnicas para hacer este tipo de trabajo; a mí se me ocurrió poner salchichas en un trinche y colocar a lado de la cámara para así capturar su atención, lo cual algunas veces me funcionó. El gato fue el más beneficiado porque gracias a su astucia atrapaba muy rápido la comida. Después de un tiempo, un tanto cansada, decidí dejarlos en paz y me puse a editar las fotos con algunos marcos navideños que hay en Canva para que tengan un aspecto más animado.
This has been my experience photographing my pets at Christmas; it was really entertaining. I've always wanted to have pictures of my pets at Christmas, especially because of how much it means to have them alive. While they didn't really enjoy the photo shoot, the process was fun and the results are very cute; even though my pets didn't let themselves be posed as I wished, I was able to capture their everyday moments and the joy they always give us.
Esta ha sido mi experiencia fotografiando en navidad a mis mascotas; fue realmente entretenido. Siempre he querido tener fotografías de mis mascotas en navidad, especialmente por lo mucho que significa tenerlas vivas. Si bien no disfrutaron mucho de la sesión de fotos, el proceso fue divertido y los resultados son muy lindos; aun cuando mis mascotas no se dejaron posar como yo deseaba, pude capturar sus momentos cotidianos y la alegría que siempre nos regalan.
I hope that next year we will continue together and be able to do it again. Maybe I will also improve my photography skills. Calicuchima, pepino and I wish happy holidays to all the members of this wonderful hive pets family.
