We spent some time to draft a thoughtful response to Forbes' inquiry. We'll be crossing our fingers and toes.
We've been very blessed with the success of Orion Modern, and will be spending much of 2019-2021 in Asia for our venture philanthropy project.
Thank you for the nomination.
"The more time that we have spent working with this Vietnamese-American population, the more aware that we have become of the need for cross-border social causes initiatives for developing nations within Asia. Our primary Asia project is a venture philanthropy project, Nền Tảng Trái Tim Hạnh Phúc (TTHP) (translates to Happy Hearts Foundation), which is entirely based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Founded in December 2017, it already engages in extensive outreach to the local community. The project was funded entirely by Emylee Thai and Annah Nguyen, based on their own financial success within the U.S. market transforming Orion Modern into a multi-million-dollar company.
While many of these outreach efforts in Southeast Asia are charitable in nature (such as distributing rice & noodles to indigent villagers), a growing number of them are designed around positive impact goals that truly empower people to regain their financial footing and contribute back to society. For example, a recent project involved the distribution of 300+ wheelchairs to disabled Vietnamese villagers, enabling them to work productive daily jobs in society instead of being homebound. And our newest TTHP project is the launch and development of a new school for young children, in Chau Doc, Vietnam, that will provide free education and help to eradicate illiteracy. This school has a target completion date of 2022."
