Here's Elon Musk's vision of making humans multiplanet species and colonizing Mars as of now but obviosly he's not going to stop there.
Traveling humans all the way to mars, he makes it sound like going on vacation on a cruise. Though we might not be present to see that happen, but fels like a new civilization is round the corner.
