I walked into a beautiful hotel called the Seaview Hotel. It had an age of over 150 years and yet it was not Grandpa’s house. The hotel had a touch and feel of Victorian-era architecture mixed with modern design. I couldn’t get my eyes away from the magnificent beauty of the structure.
I asked the desk clerk to rent me a room. She was a young girl with blonde hair, fair skin, and a pretty face. I asked: “Can I have a room for a week please?”
“Yes of course. Our weekend rates are 1600 dollars,” she replied. I nodded and took out my wallet. She handed me a key with a room number 128 on the keychain.
“There are many things to keep you occupied here at the hotel. You've got our beach, pool, spa, poker, entertainment venues, ocean museum, and the ocean itself.” She gave me a brochure with all the highlights.
“Thank you,” I said and headed up to my room. I took the elevator and went to room 128. I unlocked the door and entered the room. It had a large bed with a nice comforter, with a beautiful view of the ocean. There was a balcony off the bedroom where there was a white bench seat. One door lead off into a bathroom. I went in there and washed my hands and wiped them on a towel, and then headed back to the bed.
I decided that I would lay on the bed for a while and get some rest. I reached for the switch on the lamp, and as soon as I pulled it down, the lamp did not light up. I was a little confused, but I decided that I would just let it go.
It had been a while since I had been on a trip by myself, and more than that, it had been a while since I had been to a hotel one at all. I thanked God that my sister was away visiting her boyfriend for the weekend, and I was able to decide to take this opportunity to see the World. Something told me that this was why I was here.
I lay on the bed for about 30 minutes, and I began to have a strange feeling that I was not alone, and I would at times feel a faint sensation that I was being watched. I rolled over and looked outside. There was not a soul in sight. I decided that I needed some sleep, so I turned off the lamp, and I slept.
I woke up in the middle of the night, and I looked to my right, and I saw a woman. She was beautiful in the way that I could only dream of. She was wearing a white gown with a long flowing skirt. She had long dark hair and big blue eyes. I could see that she had perfection from her neck down to her feet.
“Don’t be afraid. I will not hurt you,” she said.
“Who are you?” I asked. She did not answer at first. She only smiled at me, and I felt that she was trying to tell me something.
“Are you here to haunt the place?” I asked in response to her silent smile. I felt a little nervous, but also, it was exciting.
“I came looking for someone that I love very much,” she said.
“Who is that?” I asked. She answered me.
“My name is Melanie, and I am looking for you.”
“Why do you love me?” I asked her, and she answered.
"You and I are part of each other's destiny. None of us can escape from us. We are all destined to connect at some point. You must know that it will be dangerous for you to see me once you see me, but we are destined to be together again.”
“Why do you say that?”
“Because, love makes us do crazy things. We will all do crazy things when we are in love. I hope you will not lose faith in me.” She left the room while I was still sleeping.
I woke up the next day with a smile on my face, and one thing on my mind: Melanie. I got out of bed and showered. I put on the only clothes that I brought: a pair of blue jeans and a white jumper. I walked down the stairs in the lobby area, and there was a table with a young man with a glad, friendly face.
"Can I help you?" he asked and I said.
"Would you mind taking a picture of me? I want a picture with everything that I have seen here today." He smiled and took a picture of me.
“This is a great picture of you; thanks,” I said and then asked him about his name.
“My name is Robert," and I said.
“I will meet you at the pool in about an hour? Maybe,” I said. He agreed and then walked away.
I walked up to the reception desk and they said, "Sir, if you need anything, just press this button. It will call us for any of your needs." I thanked them, because they were very polite, and then walked out the back entrance. I was going to the main pool.
When I got up to the main area of the pool, I saw lots of people relaxing and enjoying themselves. I got a drink and then I walked to the pool. I saw Robert was already there and sitting on the bench. I touched the seat next to him. He looked at me, smiled, and then looked back down at the pool. I sat down next to him and took a picture.
“Can I ask you something?" he asked me. I was surprised he had asked me out. He was a very handsome guy, had dark hair, a very handsome face, and had a strong build.
“Yes,” I answered and he continued to say.
“Why are you here? Everyone else here is a family person, or there with bums looking for a quick $5 for another drink,” he asked me.
“I am here to get away from everyone and everything. I am here to take a rest from life,” I told him. He nodded and said.
“That is great; I could take a rest myself from life.” I said.
I jumped in the pool and splashed water on him. I said, "Hello, Robert."
“Hello Mika,” he said, and then reached for my hand. We both jumped in the clear blue pool, and we swam around. I began to tell him about my life, how I had to get away. I was a normal person just like him. I had a normal life and a normal, happy family life.
“How about we get out for some food, and then we can tell each other about our lives," he asked.
“Yes, that sounds good. I know a great place to eat at. How about I pick you up here in an hour?” he said.
“That will be fine” I said. I got out of the pool, and he did too, and then I walked back to my hotel room. I showered and dressed. I then left my hotel room and walked to the restaurant. I had been there the night before, and I was very relaxed and in a great mood.
I was sitting in the lounge area, and Robert showed up. We both walked into the restaurant together. The manager came over to us and said.
“Hello Mika, I am glad you could come back. I see you have a guest.” The manager had a big nose and long hair.
“Yeah.”
I told him that I didn’t have a reservation and he said.
“Don’t worry; I have a table for you.”
I told him that I was just dropping by. We both walked up to the table, and I waved to the tables around us. They smiled back at me. Once we sat down, I asked him what he wanted. He said he’d get whatever I thought was good. I asked for a delicious steak.
