I have powered down a few times during my span on Hive and while some of them felt justifiable, they also had a feeling of being an unwise move to make, hence prompting regret on decision. In the years after that the challenges haven't abated and it seems there is always a need to be met requiring substantial income.

There is a reason why traditional banks for instance are required to have minimum capital balances. Capital is king, and a loss of capital for a bank is one quick route to insolvency. Crypto has enabled us to be our own banks in a way and I think we often underestimate the need to set minimum capital requirements with our crypto investments.

For instance I was looking to buy some cheap Hive during the recent dip but as at when it dipped the lowest (37 cents I think) I wasn't liquid enough and was instead waiting for payday to put some money in it. If I had some USDT lying around for the sake of investing for instance, it would have been a no brainer at the time.

As the managers and biggerst stakeholders of our crypto assets, we enjoy the benefits and bear the losses. Gains can be compounded over time as we keep the bulk of our dividends. Those who have had this insight from the very beginning have been able to build their personal crypto assets by rolling over profits per time while maintaining their liquidity.

If they choose to sell both capital and profits per time then there would be nothing to invest with at the next opportunity. Traditonal business know this and have lived by the principle of capital reinvestement, I think it is only logical we pick up this important lesson as managers of our own personal banks in principle.

Hive runs by this same principle, as does most of its secondary tokens. Your stake is your capital, and there is always the temptation to sell. However, staking also has its proven advantages, as it has huge implications in returns, community respect and governace. Not to mention that the stake remains yours and whatever we build it to is ultimately to our benefit when it is all said and done.
