Hi everyone, I’m @empoderat and this is my quarantine story.
First related corona photo (around 7 march), with a sweet Corona beer in the night, assisting a course in Barcelona.
I’m a 25 years old hiveian from Spain (need give it a second thought before writing ‘steemian’) and since the previous 16 of march (technically Friday the 13th) I’m officially in strict quarantine (where you’re ONLY allowed to go out to purchase consumables and/or medicines.
And frankly it has been a interesting experience so far. It’s incredible how you value ‘banal’ things like walking around or ‘just’ staying in the street for the sake of staying out from home.
Financially, that situation didn’t affected me in a negative way (can’t say the same for some relatives and closer ones..). Let me explain.
I ‘lost’ my job in january (in fact, they didn’t renewed me the contract for pure greed). They did me a favour; I was heavily underpaid for the huge amount of work that I did in a daily basis + the physical/mental burden associated to my job (I’m a physiotherapist). Was thinking about leaving for months and my stupid bosses saved me all the headaches. I also got all the unemployment benefits.
Frankly I needed it. Focus a bit on myself. Invest time into reading, workout, taking some courses, keep learning about blockchain, bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, I have been playing a lot Age of Empires ultimately damn! That sh!t it’s addictive as fuck!
I like to laugh about 'over-patriotic things', this is me screenshooting 'details' of the spaniards campaign. 'prostagma!' (only AoM/AoE players will get it).
Overall I’m feeling comfortable. Deep in my heart I’m still a library rat.
And that doesn’t mean that I’m not missing going out! Of course that I’m missing spending time ‘physically speaking’ with my friends & relatives. It’s just that I’m used to invest a lot of time at home.
The most difficult thing for me is to exercise properly (I’m missing the gym a lot!) and to avoid eating between hours. I’m sure that most of times I end up raiding the fridge for pure boredom!
Welcome to my cave! Where I spend easily ~14h/day (not counting sleeping).
Thinking about my closer ones… the person who’s suffering the most right now is my father. It’s the only ‘but’ of my whole situation (thank god it could be much worse!). Again let me explain a bit.
My grandma (93 years old) fell in the kitchen in mid february. Thankfully she didn’t broke the leg but the situation scared us a lot. Moreover, she have a bit of dementia and don’t understand ‘why the fuck she have to stay at hospital’
The first night tried to get up from their bed (at the hospital) and almost ran! From that moment she’s tied to the bed/chair.
Damn that stubborn old woman!
Now she’s confined at a residence (socio-sanitary hospital, dunno what’s the integral translation). Obviously we can’t manage to visit her. She’s fine, but as I said before I’m a bit worried for my father and I’m always trying to make him feel better, watching Netflix series together and talking about the current state of the markets (he’s retired, but loves trading some shitcoins from time to time; the USD and all that ‘legacy’ things hehe)
Talking about my father, a couple of days ago we celebrated their birthday (68, 1 more for a life full of sense) and obviously we celebrated with a good piece of meat. This is 'lechazo', the name we give to the meat of the lamb which is still breastfeeding from their mama-lamb). Spaniards lack about a lot of things, partying & celebrating isn't one of them.
I always try to think in positive and I think that the planet will benefit from this ‘stand-by’ period. The water and the air are cleaning itself and people is returning home, which usually is something underrated, ‘’In the name of progress’’ as they always say.
We should care more about the little things. And I’m the first who should put in practise this ‘’in theory’’ easy-thing-to-do.
For example, what about investing time in you?
