Artificial Intelligence'n' Machine Learning
In my yesterday's blog about the challenges that the emerging technologies pose in the future, I discussed the prospects of fingercode technology. Taking the discussion further, I am going to shed some light on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning In my today's blog. But, before diving deep in the topic, I feel it necessary to explain 'artificial intelligence' and 'machine learning'.
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Artificial intelligence has been defined in many ways. One of yhw definitions of artifical inteligence is "the study how to train the computers so that computers can do things which at present human can do better.” In the backdrop of this definition, we can say that Artificial Intelligence is intelligence where we want to add all the capabilities to machine that human contain.
Machine Learning
Machine Learning is the subset of Artificial Intelligence. It is an advanced form of Artificial Intelligence where the machine can learn as it goes rather than having every action programmed by humans. In other words, we can say that Machine Learning is the learning in which machine can learn by its own without being explicitly programmed. It is an application of AI that provide system the ability to automatically learn and improve from experience. Here we can generate a program by integrating input and output of that program.
Technology that’s equipped with AI or machine learning can be a powerful tool for the kinds of tasks humans just can’t master. Machines can recognize sequences in large volumes of data, identify behavior that doesn’t fit normal, use patterns, or apply speech recognition to unusual applications. Several studies predict that intelligent machines will have a big impact on how we work, how we move and even how wars are fought. AI also has the potential to take the burden of laborious and time-consuming tasks from the people, freeing up their time and brainpower for other things e.g. doctors using diagnostic AI to help them diagnose patients will analyse the data presented by the AI and make the ultimate decision.
Whether AI and machine learning will augment human skills or replace them outright, is a debatable topic. But managing the challenges posed by AI will require careful planning to ensure that the full benefits are realised and risks are mitigated.
Punchline
Some people fret that artificial intelligence will end civilization as we know it. Others believe it can solve every problem. But, the reality is somewhere in between.
