Greetings, my dear and cherished friends. I’m back again to share with all of you. As you already know, I’m currently dealing with a somewhat delicate health situation, and here on the island we don’t have access to public or private radiation therapy for this disease. So, almost two months ago, we contacted an uncle of my husband’s who lives in another state and asked him to do us a favor by looking into the hospital in his city, Puerto La Cruz, and scheduling an appointment for me with a specialist.
That same week, in early September, they processed our request and put us on the list—as you can imagine, the waiting list at this hospital is extremely long.
Since then, we’ve called the hospital every week to check in, because they never called me back. They kept us waiting for over a month with nothing but excuses, and as you know, cancer doesn’t wait—so my husband traveled exactly 8 days ago to personally request information and ask for help with my situation.
Last Tuesday, he traveled to the city of Puerto La Cruz in search of an angel who would intercede on our behalf and help us secure an appointment.
It’s sad, but that’s the state of our healthcare system for those of us who don’t have thousands of dollars to pay at a private clinic.
