With popularity of blockchain technology, there are more and more content platforms for us to use. Other than the infrastructure technology, one of the main difference of blockchain based content platform is tokenization. It allows normal users to make some money from the time & efforts they spent.
Lichang is one of this kind platform. It was launched couple months ago. but is only for Chinese users. Unless you have a China phone number, you won't be able to sign up for it which is a bummer.
It works pretty much the same as Steem, users can make money from upvoting, posting, commenting etc. The general problem with blockchain content platform are -
- Most of the profits go to top 20% users whom owns the majority of the coins.
- Use of bots - for those who's good at coding, they can always easily write up some programs and upvote, post or comment automatically without even spending extra efforts.
- Minnows don't have too much exposure.
Lichang has the same problem. Their incentive system didn't make them stood out from the pack. When you go to their app, you will see that it's always the same faces/user id who's on trending list. Even though it opens a specific channel for all users to apply promotion opportunity by the officials, rarely you can get on it if you don't have enough followers... But is it killing the app? No, more and more users are flushing in because everyone wants to make some extra money even though it's not a lot.
What can you say? Don't take it too serious and don't think about money. Stick to why you write, and be yourself. You can only control what you can, as otherwise, you may feel frustration and lose your passion for writing.
