Sweet sweetened beverages have negative effects on the body. It is one of the major culprit in the obesity epidemic, it increases the risk of diabetes and causes dental problem. it also affects children behaviour.
The more soda a child consumes the more the child is likely to be aggressive, experience depression, suicidal thoughts and withdrawal behaviours.
CAUSES
In 2011, a research published in the Journal Injury Prevention showed that children who drank more than 4 soda were more likely to carried a weapon and behaved violently toward his friends and relatives.
The latest research published in the journal of pediatrics, mothers and their children (2929) from 20 large U. S. cities were periodically interviewed and evaluated.
Mothers completed a checklist on their children's behaviour to measure their aggression.
The mother were questioned on the number of soda their children consumed daily. From the results, 43% of the kids consumed at least one soda daily while 4% drank four or more serving soda.
Children who consumed no soda scored 56 on the aggression scale, compared to 57, 58 and 62 for those who took 2 serving, 3 serving and four or more serving soda respectively.
From the report, children that took 4 or more soda are more aggressive than those that consumed no soda.
The "known" is that soda has negative effects on children's behaviour while the "unknown" is what in soda cause it.
Soda are highly processed drinks that contains critic acid, sodium benzoate, aspartame, syrup, high fructose corn, carbonated water and often caffeine.
The question is "which of these ingredients cause the aggressiveness in children. we are not talking about any other ingredient but caffeine.
From research, sugar and caffeine in soda is traced to the aggressiveness in children who took soda regularly. Though the connection of sugar to the aggression is murkier.
Caffeine is the stimulant that affect primarily the brain and other organs in the body. Its compound is connected with changes in hormone levels that could after the way still developing brain perceive and evaluate risk. It also slowed heart rates and increased blood pressure in children.
CONCLUSION
Parents should reduce the number of soda their children takes or even give it a quit. They can replace it with water or fruit juice, or even dilute the soda with water to stay healthy.
