Hola apreciados hivers, un gusto saludarles después de tanto tiempo de ausencia por motivos personales, el día de hoy me activo con mi experiencia de arreglo de nevera en mi humilde hogar.
Cómo todos saben, la situación económica en Venezuela es crítica, por lo que adquirir un artefacto es un gran sacrificio.
Así que toca, mejorar con lo que hay, mientras se reúnen los fondos suficientes para comprar bienes nuevos.
De los bienes principales de la cocina, nuestra nevera era la más afectada, pidiendo a gritos una nueva.
Pero en este momento hay otras prioridades, así que nos tocó embellecerla con un papel adhesivo, que está en tendencia, especial para paredes y texturas lisas para su buena adhesión.
En primer lugar, comenzamos por tomar las medidas de la nevera, resultando 2,70 m de área, por lo que aproximamos 3m.
Seguidamente nos dirigimos a la tienda llamada Deconovo, en el estado Trujillo, especialistas en decoración y textiles para el hogar, bajo precios accesibles.
Hello, dear Hivers, it’s a pleasure to be in touch with you again after such a long absence for personal reasons. Today I’m sharing my experience of fixing the fridge in my humble home.
As you all know, the economic situation in Venezuela is critical, so buying a new appliance is a huge sacrifice.
So we have to make do with what we’ve got, whilst we save up enough money to buy new things.
Of all the main kitchen appliances, our fridge was the worst off and was crying out for a replacement.
But at the moment there are other priorities, so we had to spruce it up with some adhesive paper – which is very much in vogue at the moment – specially designed for walls and smooth surfaces to ensure good adhesion.
First of all, we started by measuring the fridge, which came to 2.70 m in area, so we rounded it up to 3 m.
Next, we headed to a shop called Deconovo, in Trujillo State, which specialises in home décor and textiles at affordable prices.
Admirando el lugar, seleccionamos un color versátil, siendo el plateado (el ideal para las neveras) puesto que es tendencia en el mercado, bajo un costo de 8$ el metro.
El cariñito a la nevera, era justo y necesario, jaja por el óxido y las manchas, su estetica era terrible, pero su vida útil interna está intacta.
Mi nevera está como el dicho, no juguemos el libro por su portada, ya que trae sorpresas al final.
Los materiales a utilizar son: un metro, una tijera, el color del papel al gusto, un cuchillo, según el área a forrar y mucha paciencia.¡ O si que hay que tener!
After taking a good look at the fridge, we chose a versatile colour – silver (ideal for fridges) – as it’s currently on trend, at a cost of $8 per metre.
Giving the fridge a bit of a makeover was both fair and necessary, haha – because of the rust and stains, it looked terrible, but its internal functionality is still intact.
My fridge is just like the saying goes: don’t judge a book by its cover, as it holds surprises in store.
The materials you’ll need are: a metre of paper, a pair of scissors, paper in your chosen colour, a knife (depending on the area to be covered) and plenty of patience. You’ll certainly need plenty of that!

Si notamos, está llevada por la vida, ya que estaba en un sitio donde generaba mucha humedad, y en consecuencia invadió en diversas zonas de la nevera, pero mayor degradó fue en la parte superior, todo venezolano tiene la costumbre de colocar un vaso encima de la nevera y la consecuencia al tiempo es lo que reflejamos, por esa razón tuvimos que adquirir un papel adicional más resistente, tipo de goma espuma, para que la parte más afectada, se forrara, sin problema, ya que su superficie muy rugosa impedía que pegara el papel adhesivo normal plateado, entonces se procedio a colocar una capa adicional acolchonada de base, de medidas 60x 50 cm, tomando en consideración los remaches de la misma, bajo un costo de 1,5$.
Quedando de la siguiente manera:
If you look closely, you can see that it has been affected by the environment, as it was in a place where there was a lot of damp, and as a result, the damage has spread to various parts of the fridge, but the worst damage was at the top. Every Venezuelan has the habit of placing a glass on top of the fridge, and the result over time is what we see here. For that reason, we had to buy an additional, more durable type of paper, similar to foam rubber, to line the most affected area without any problems, as its very rough surface prevented the standard silver adhesive paper from sticking. We therefore proceeded to fit an additional padded base layer, measuring 60 x 50 cm, taking into account the rivets on the fridge, at a cost of $1.50.
The result is as follows:
Posteriormente tomamos las medidas por caras y empezamos a cortar el papel, primero los laterales y luego la parte superior ya que esta ultima cubría los bordes de los laterales dando mejor agarre a las orillas de los mismos.
La tarea de pegar fue como envolver un cuaderno gigante, se requiere de ayuda familiar, para que salga hermoso, aparte que se comparte tiempo de calidad.
La forma de pegar es de adentro hacia afuera,de tal manera que no genere aire en la superficie y se forme burbujas.
Por último quitamos la manilla de la nevera (separando la tapa de la misma y luego quitando los 4 tornillos que lleva) para pegar con facilidad el papel de la puerta y luego de hacerlo, la volvimos a colocar y Voilá! Así quedo nuestra nevera, nos encantó como se vé, renovada y lista para seguir con su uso y sobretodo más fácil de limpiar, bajo un costo total de 25,5$.¡ Más económico imposible!
We then took the measurements for each side and began cutting the paper – first the sides and then the top, as the top covered the edges of the sides, ensuring a better hold along their edges.
Sticking it all together was like wrapping a giant notebook; you need a bit of help from the family to make it look lovely, not to mention that it’s a chance to spend some quality time together.
You should stick it down from the inside out, so that no air gets trapped on the surface and no bubbles form.
Finally, we removed >the fridge handle (by separating the door from the body and then removing the four screws holding it in place) to make it easier to stick the paper onto the door; once we’d done that, we put it back on and voilà! This is how our fridge turned out; we loved the way it looks. There were a few minor imperfections here and there, as it was our first attempt, but with the help of a needle we managed to sort it out by gently removing the small bubbles as we went along. Without applying too much pressure, our fridge was given a new lease of life and is ready for continued use – and, above all, it’s easier to clean – all for a total cost of $25.50. It couldn’t be any cheaper!
