Untitled IbisPaint 2021

Hi Y'all,

This portrait is a challenge I gave myself to improve my speed and accuracy in making digital portraits. I have way more experience using traditional materials than digital techniques, so to force improvement, I wanted to see what I could do with a 1-hour time limit.

I made this with IbisPaint on my phone. I only took one screen shot during the creation since I was really more focused on positive progress/time management than documenting the steps. So instead of process pics, the layers are below. I used this reference for getting the light and shadows right. And I actually ran out of time before I got her ears more detailed, so they're blocky and simple.

As I continue to build my digital art skill set, I'm learning how to use blending modes and brushes more effectively, although I didn't use any blending modes on this one. One thing that's the same for both kinds of art is the importance of a solid sketch. The sketch quality can (will) make or break the finished piece! 馃槅

Switching from material to digital is definitely a journey, and I'm so happy to document and share my progress here on Hive.
