Lambda Centauri is a star of the Centaurus star. The emission nebula is named after its IC 2944. Which is also known as Running Chicken Nebula or Lambda Cen Nebula.
The black-coiled magnetic cloud in which nebula is seen is called bok globules. When these coils of clouds descend, then one time out of them, the bright stars then emerge. Known as the Thackeray's Globules in the 1950's, the South African astronomer A. David Thackeray, IC 2944 detected the coiled clouds or Bok globules.
