Greetings from Romania, where we are celebrating today, 24th of June, Sânziene, an annual festival in the fairies' honour.
This tradition can be associated with any other celebration of the summer solstice from the entire world.
One legend of Sânziene says that the most beautiful women in the village dress in white and spend all picking flowers. With those flowers, the girls braid floral crowns which they wear at nightfall when they meet with their soulmate and they dance around a bonfire. After that, the crowns are thrown over the houses, and whenever the crown falls, it is said that someone will die in that house; otherwise, if the crown stays on the roof of the house, the owners will be healthy and wealthy. As well, as in any other bonfire celebrations, it is used to jump over the fire in order to purify your body.
