Philipains 3:13-14; Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
It is very easy to get stuck in the past because we tend to have difficulties in letting go of things and situations when they ought to be done with. Forgiving others and moving on, forgetting past events and moving on etc. Not so long ago i watched this video where a guys asked for forgiveness from the female saying the past is not the present.
And this statement whiles it is very true i would like to rephrase it by saying the future is not the past, why? Because our future is in our own hands, we control what happens from this very minute and this very moment. So instead of dwelling on the past, why not just learn a lesson or two and use it to guide you into the future?
That is another great thing that comes with been a Christian. Your past is not used to judge you. As a matter of fact, Christ renews us when we come to know him such that our past, our old habits and anything were involved in is considered null and void. Giving us a fresh start and a clean slate.
So if you have been offered this great opportunity why waste your time brooding on the past? Press on forward towards the Goal for which you have been called into the Kingdom of God. Eternal Life.
