Numbers 14:20-24 And the Lord said, I have forgiven in accordance with the word. But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the Glory of the Lord. Because those men who saw my glory and wonders which I did in Egypt and in the desert and have tempted me now these ten times and have not hearkened to my voice; surely they shall not see the land which I swore unto your fathers, nor shall any of them that angered me see it. But my servant Caleb because he had another spirit with him and hath followed me fully for that I will bring him into the land and his seed shall possess it.
In the verse we notice that one man stand out, Caleb and in his standing out we noticed that it was due his not following the crowed into doing what is not right in the sight of God. His idiosyncracy was not like any other person, in relation to others he remain peculiar and stand firm in his faith in God even at the time when others were losing their faith and it is for this reason why God is rewarding whiles pronouncing destruction on the others.
Christians of our time fear to stand out, the fear the peculiarity that comes with Christianity and for that reason they are not able to do the things that they ought to do as Christians, they compromise their faith and the directives of the scriptures just so they can fit in with the Crowd or in other words the world. How then can we expect God to reward us if we cannot stand by our faith, we deny him day in day out among our peers and to non-believers because the crowd is doing same. Today we learn peculiarity is not a bad thing, so long as we follow the instructions of God and abide by the words of the Scripture, we will surely be rewarded accordingly. Let’s Be Courageous enough to stand firm for Christ in this world of sham, that our faith may be rewarded accordingly.
