El Bucerrito

Allá lejos, Terecay,
cerquita de San Fernando
donde tengo unos amigos
donde voy de vez en cuando

Un bucerrito bramando
su mamá se le murió
y yo le digo cantando
no llores que aquí estoy yo

Bucerrito, bucerrito
acércate y ven acá
tu vieja búfala muerta
mira, qué calamidad

Si te sirve de consuelo
esta tonada bonita
arrímate hasta el tranquero
y acércale la orejita

Yo traigo el rejo en la mano
voy derecho al botalón
donde te están esperando
con duelo en el corazón

Cuando uno está en el ordeño
diez patas están junticas
cuatro de ella, cuatro tuyas
y dos de mi tonadita

Me faltan las cuatro patas
de la búfala barrosa
para llenar mi totuma
con leche gorda espumosa

No llores más, bucerrito
y hazte grande de repente
para que tengas un hijo
con un lucero en la frente

y ese lindo lucerito
que en tu frente va a alumbrar
es la búfala barrosa
que ha regresado al corral

Bucerrito, bucerrito

"El bucerrito"

Far away, Terecay,
close to San Fernando
where I have some friends
where I go from time to time

A howling buzzard
her mother died
and I tell him singing
don't cry, here I am

Bucerrito, bucerrito
come over and come here
your old dead buffalo
look, what a calamity

If it's any consolation
this pretty tune
come up to the gate
and bring her ear close

I have the rejo in my hand
I'm going straight to the boom
where are they waiting for you
with grief in the heart

When one is in the milking
ten legs are together
four of her, four of yours
and two of my little tune

All four legs are missing
of the muddy buffalo
to fill my totuma
with fat frothy milk

Don't cry anymore, bucerrito
and get big suddenly
so that you have a child
with a star on the forehead

and that cute little star
that on your forehead is going to light
it's the muddy buffalo
who has returned to the corral

Bucerrito, bucerrito
