Nowadays I have to plan my time around my puppies. They've now developed a routine of going to bed at 2 PM and then I can leave them inside the room till next morning.
So, on Sunday, I planned a trip with a friend quite spontaneously. It was to a place called Naggar. It is closer to Manali and it takes us around 5 hours to reach there by public transport.
Our plan was to visit the Naggar castle and the famous art museum there. So we were ready by 3 but then had to wait for one of my guests to return.
So, we finally left by 4 which means we could catch the last bus by 6 and we would reach half way by 8. And as expected, we reached Naggar by 9.30. In fact, we reached earlier than expected since we took cabs in between.
We had pre ordered Aloo parathas and an orange juice. We also had sandwiches since we were really hungry.
We stayed at a place called The Tatch, which is very close to the Naggar castle. I love this place for its dome shaped structure and the food.
Unfortunately, we realized our plans won't work since the art museum is closed on Monday and the Castle is under construction, so we won't get to enter there as well.
Well, Naggar has cute little cafes around. So, we planned to go for a walk in the morning and have coffee at one of these cafes.
We went for a walk early in the morning. But I guess we had real hard luck in our Naggar trip since it started to rain in the morning.
The good part was it was very misty everywhere. We were walking the most among the pine trees and apple orchards.
We check at the cafes and they were opening around 8.30 or 9. So, we went till the museum even though it was called. But, it was a really good place. It was not just a museum but they have so many things built in respect for the artist.
Turns out, the museum is the exhibition center for the art pieces of this Russian artist. They have a trust and other buildings related to that nearby. They also conduct workshops.
Even though it was closed the place looked pretty with all the trees and the ambiance.
We then thought of continuing our walk till the next destination called Sharan village. It was written as a village famous for weaving.
But half way though we decided to drop that plan for multiple reasons. First we desperately needed coffee. Second, since it is the off season for tourists, nobody is expecting us and most things remain closed. Plus, we needed coffee, did I say that already?
So, we walked back and came across very beautiful temple.
The temples here have a very different architecture and this one has a really good gallery area around the temple, outside of it.
There were small details here that were really interesting.
This is also the temple which was painted by that famous artist. Also, we had seen the structure of this temple in many souvenir shops.
We continued our walk looking around the cool mud and stone houses and the nature.
My friend made sure to collect the flowers and leaves to press on her scrapbook.
We also saw another temple with a very different structure. It looked so cool but nobody was around to check on this temple.
Finally, we went into the first cafe. The moment we entered the lights went off. So our order for cheesecake, walnut honey cake and coffee got reduced to just the cheesecake which was ready.
After that we went to the other cafe called Cotton wool cafe. We didn't like the way the sales guy treated us, so we decided not to have anything from there. We did buy some tea and handmade products though.
The best part about this cafe is their collection of art and local products. And we then realised that the paintings are by the same artist whose exhibition we went to see.
The next stop was Ragini stays or a German bakery-which was part of one another. There were had coffee, cakes and bought postcards.
The cakes were very disappointing and we decided to go back to The Tatch and have a proper meal before leaving. One thing I'm sure about was the food from the Tatch is really good.
That was more about the Naggar trip where we walked around a lot to explore this little artistic place.
