Good day everyone, welcome to my blog.
Who sent me, what have I done? What type of forwardness or foolishness is this were the thoughts that were on my mind all through that afternoon. It was a hot sunny day and I was returning from work dragging my already tired body at the pace of a snail.
Then I saw her across the street carrying a thirty liter gallon on her head. If I had known, I would have just looked away or formed up as if I did not see her but my village people will never rest, they are always on my case pressing my mumu button all the time.
Then I ran across the street like one who saw a ghost calling at her with the highest volume of my voice saying ah mama you would have called me or any of my children to carry this for you nah. Abah, do you want to injure yourself?. I said all this trying to collect the gallon from the old woman who happens to be my neighbor while she was just smiling back at me.
The moment she dropped the gallon on my head I knew I was in for a long thing because the trekking distance we had to cover was about fifteen to twenty minutes. Not up to five minutes into the journey I was already sweating like a Christmas goat, all the jokes the old woman was cracking seemed like dry ones to me, all that was on my mind was for me to get home and drop her gallon.
It was as if the universe made that day the day of payment for all my misdeed but I was already in it and there is no going back. After what seemed like eternity, we eventually got home and I was able to drop the gallon of palm oil I had helped the old woman with. The body pain I felt that night and the neck pain that lasted for day after were a good reminder that it's not all help that is worth rendering .
