We share the things we create with love.
We share things we create with love.
We share, we create with love.
We share, we create love.
We share, we love.
We share love.
We love.
We.
I've been working a lot with minimalism lately, writing a 150-word story inspired by a prompt from @aschatria and a 50-word story for the #fiftywords prompt that
@miniature-tiger posts bi-weekly. The trick to these pieces lies in finding the absolute core essence of what it is that I want to express.
The above exercise begins with a simple sentence, then progresses by removing a single word to shift the meaning ever so slightly. The first few lines were easy enough to work with. They had plenty of words to spare!
The ending took a bit more thought. "We share love" is already a minimalist sentence, so the divergence in potential paths to take becomes far more striking.
Do we share, or do we love? Or is this not an expression of what we do at all, but rather a command? Share love!
At least for this piece, we love. The word "we" carries with it the sense of sharing, since it represents the joining of more than one individual. So love stays, with sharing becoming an implication.
The final line though - deciding whether to use "we" or "love" - that was tricky. Love might seem like the stronger word, but in the abstract, without anyone to do the loving, it becomes light, airy, and weak.
We, on the other hand, offers hints of love. The word is formed when you and I unite. Unguarded connection has roots in love, even if it remains unspoken.
The words that dropped off line by line represent powerful ideas. Sharing, creation, love, even "things" brings the weight of meaning symbolized through the use of objects.
People say you don't know what you have until it's gone, and treating words this way will reveal their true value.
