Looking out for the moon
Hello steemians!
Today I will be sharing the watercolor painting I did with this girl and her cat looking out from their room window to see the moon.
Watercolor painting
Watercolour is a very fun technique and sometimes the effect that comes out of it is very unpredictable and magical. For me personally, I love the effect of the smudges and color blending in this technique. Although I do have difficulties trying to blend the colors and to make the overall painting look good without using too many colors, it takes some experimenting and I just like to go with the flow.
The process
First of all the paper I use for this one wasn’t really a good watercolor paper. I used Arto by CAMPAP sketchbook but I don’t really mind cause I was just drawing for fun but painting it on a good paper will have a better blending effect. The difference is watercolor paper will have a more absorbing abilities means it can absorb more water so it doesn’t make the paper becomes crumpled and uneven when it dries.
The tools:
- Sketchbook
- Blue color pencil
- Pilot inkbrush pen
- Watercolour brush
- Watercolour paint
I started with a draft on my sketchbook. I used a blue color pencil to draw the lines.
Then I use my inkbrush to draw the outlines and make it more solid.
I started painting with the base color first. Let it dry and then continue to paint on it. Because of the quality of the paper, you can see it already started to become uneven.
Next, I continue to paint the background.
Add more colors and blend them. Since its night, I used mostly blue to color the background and add some purple to make it colorful.
Now I add little details and shadows to make it stand out.
And I am done!
Thank you for stopping by and have a good day~
See you in the post :)
