Another murky day today with bouts of rain as we had a ride through my home county of Derbyshire.
This road leads to Winnats Pass, which travels through a limestone gorge with steep slopes and rock faces on both sides of the road. The only problem is that there's no place to stop and take photos unless your passenger does it while you are driving down it.
The Blue John Cavern is one of four show caves in the area of Castleton. I have been down it but many, many years ago. The village jewellery and gift shops still sell the famous and rare Blue John Stone, which is still mined but only in small amounts.
We had a brief bit of sun which I'm sure the cows and their calves appreciated.
Oh to be young again! Hikers in just t-shirts on a cold, wet day.
I really like the criss cross patterns of the stone walls that run across the fields.
Driving back home, as usual, we had to wait for the sheep to cross the road. If one goes across, they all follow. There are 35,000 acres of land on the Chatsworth Estate, yet the sheep think the grass is greener on the other side of the road!
