On a recent walk in Derbyshire, UK, we stumbled on some pretty country lanes and villages. They always give us a lot of photo opportunities as everything is in full bloom this time of year.
I enjoyed looking at the cottages nearby, especially against a nice blue sky.
At home, I'm trying to make my communal garden into a wild garden like this one. A gentleman who lived in one of the downstairs flats used to look after the garden. Now that he's not here anymore, nobody else has taken up the reins. It's mostly a concrete jungle with plants around the perimeter. I'm trying to look after it by using as little effort as possible! A wild garden might look after itself.
Walking through these old villages, we quite often come across old stone water troughs. Years ago, when everyone got from A to B on horseback, horses would stop at the water trough for a well-earned drink. I think it all adds to the quaintness of the place and preserves history.
A wood pigeon was having a clean up in the bird bath. It has been nice and warm these past few days, but in the UK it definitely won't last!
A mallard was having a crafty snooze in the bushes. It was keeping a beady eye on us though.
This building used to be an old chapel, which will be converted into apartments soon. I quite like the idea of living in a chapel.
It was really nice walking around a beautiful, sleepy area with very little traffic to worry about.
