We took a nice, easy walk passing along a beautiful part of the River Wye in Derbyshire, UK. The river is approximately 15 to 22 miles long, depending on who you believe, but we didn't walk that far anyway!
The path was nice and even, good underfoot and nice blue skies.
On the trail is the Refreshment Room, that is in a former railway station along the Monsal Trail. The trail is on a disused railway line that is now accessible to walkers, cyclists and horse riders. Miller's Dale Station was built in 1863 and served the Midland Railway.
In my imagination, I thought this chap was sitting, writing poetry in the midday sun, but in fact he had stopped for a drink!
The vegetatian next to the river was a lovely lush green. Even though we've had hot weather, we've also had days of rain. The waters were crystal clear and very clean. The water is perfect for brown trout, grayling and rainbow trout.
After rainfall, especially during the winter months, the river can be angry, but today, it was relatively calm.
As always, we finished our walk with a well earned coffee, thankful that the rain stayed away.
