I have to agree with you! Once upon a time, we had an opportunity to purchase a used BMW. It wasn't in the best of condition inside, but really what we wanted was the experience of what driving a 'luxury car might be like. It certainly wasn't much to look at, but after all, it was a BMW! It became very apparent just what a money pit something in the 'luxury' car category might be! The starter went out; my husband being the DIY guy he is, replaced it, but to do so, you had to disconnect the exhaust manifold and a host of other things-just to get to the starter! The second time it went (which wasn't too long after the first), he did it again, and then gave it to our son.
For us, it wasn't about the so called status symbol; after all, it definitely didn't look impressive, but it was more about the experience. An experience we would NEVER bother to try again!
Unless you are independently wealthy, I'd stay far, far away! Adequate with the bells and whistles that one wishes, is just fine!
Thanks for sharing and have a lovely day! !LADY
