I think every adult to a point, doesn't want to 'turn out like their parents' did. I get what you're saying. Besides all the things that transpired in your parents' childhood, there's also generational mannerisms to consider. Just as an example, my mom was demonstrative and loving when I was small; the moment, just before I turned 10, she also changed and was distant. Looking back, I can see some of the 'why' knowing about her young adult years. It just wasn't in her generation to be that way.

I think it's an admirable wish for your genie to grant.

Colder weather does make it nice for those clothes you can't wear in sweltering heat and the hot drinks you wouldn't think about consuming in the summertime! Rainfall is relaxing. I hope your wet season is moderate with no disasters that can occur from too much of a good thing.
