Sometimes things start so minimalistic and then turn out quite frilly. This is such a girlish piece, I never did anything quite like it. I'm having a lot of fun painting these pretties and it's a good way to practice human figure. I had a lot of trouble with the legs because I didn't use any reference and was too lazy to lay on the floor to watch my own legs in the mirror...
The claws are there because of no other reason but my own amusement, and well, because the girl is a shapeshifter: part bear, part human, part fairy.
This was the first time I created a brush in Gimp! I feel such an idiot, having used the program for so many years and only using the same standard brush every time... So the brush for the flowers is from a photo I took from flowers of an orchid Dendrobium Polar Fire I have, and then modified in Gimp.

Below is the first version I made of it. I considered it finished and flattened it but then...
But then I got the urge to fill the background with an enchanted forest mood, so I started working over the previous jpg file, adding the brushes and more layers.
