Hive Open Mic Week 121 "El Norte Es Una Quimera" Cover By @elioe ande her maracas

Hello, dear Hive Open Mic community, this week 121 brings us together a very beautiful theme: "Family love", proposed by our recent featured artist
Here in Venezuela the family has always been very close, and, in fact, when a member of the family traveled for study reasons... he was impatient to graduate to return. The economic and political crisis hit us hard, causing an exodus without precedent in our history. The first wave that left the country brought with it the first "saddest Christmases" that there was for being a date strongly marked by family union and that now had more and more empty places around the table.
It was that or have more empty plates on the same table. The first ones who traveled by bus, on foot, by trails... found themselves among a thousand difficulties that they did not tell their relatives so as not to add worries to their loneliness... and, therefore, they reached the point of lying a bonanza that in some cases they did not really live. All this happened because, out of love for their family, they did not want to add mortifications to them.
It is more or less this that reflects the song that we bring today that says as a joke
he gets so tricky
that if he washed dishes there
he says here that he was a silversmith"

en busca de unos centavos
y he regresado a Caracas
como fuete de arrear pavos.
El norte es una quimera,
qué atrocidad,
y dicen que allá se vive
como un pachá.
Ay, Nueva York,
no me halagas con el oro,
tu ley seca la rechazo,
no me agrada y la deploro.
A Nueva York
yo más no voy:
allá no hay berro,
no hay vino y no hay amor.
Todo el que va a Nueva York
se vuelve tan embustero
que si allá lavaba platos
dice aquí que era platero.
La letra anterior la tomamos de acà
looking for a few cents
and I have returned to Caracas
as a fount for herding turkeys.
The north is a chimera,
what an atrocity,
and they say that you live there
like a pasha
oh, new york,
do not flatter me with gold,
your dry law I reject it,
I don't like it and I deplore it.
To New York
I no longer go:
there is no watercress,
there is no wine and there is no love.
Everyone who goes to New York
it gets so tricky
that if I washed dishes there
It says here that he was a silversmith.

se pone tan embustero
que si allá vendía bombas
dice aquí que era bombero.
Todo el que va a Nueva York
sepone tan embustero
que si allá cargaba cajas
dice aquí que era cajero
he gets so tricky
that if he sold bombs there
It says here he was a fireman.
Everyone who goes to New York
it seems so tricky
that if there he loaded boxes
it says here that he was a cashier
Note: this song has several plays on words that are understandable in Spanish but whose meaning is lost when translating into English.
