When I was a kid I had the ultimate "weapon" against all worries and stress... Nap. Yes. Whenever I was sad or worried I was going to sleep. And I was falling asleep instantly. Within seconds. It was like turning off the switch. It's funny enough that half an hour of nap was actually serving the purpose -so it was nothing like the depression kind of endless sleep- and was quite effectively sending negativity away. I was waking up brand new. No joke.
Now that I think about it it sounds crazy and of course impossible. There is no way to fall asleep if my mind is distracted by any kind of thoughts. I have to be relaxed with zero things to do -which is never the case- or very exhausted in order to take a nap in the middle of the day. I guess that magic switch was overused back then and it broke.
Of course grown ups have way more responsibilities and things to care about than kids. However it would be very useful to use the same "mechanism" to defeat stress and regain our positivity. I feel like I have lost some kind of wisdom along the way. I used to believe that wisdom is gained through years but maybe that's wrong. Think about it... I once was able to let go of anything unnecessary by taking a power nap and now I am a pro at pilling up anything unnecessary. I can become a hoarder of unnecessities. That's not that wise right?
Maybe I should find a way to bring that wise little kid back and let it show me the way.
