"Then Adam said: This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh."
Genesis 2:23 (King James Version)
I imagine Adam in the Garden of Eden naming each of the animals in the garden. Making use of their imagination to assign them names. God brought them to him wide open. And their similarity assured that they were of the same species, destined to be together. Well, a giraffe can not procreate with a bear.
The LORD awoke in him a sense of belonging to someone he did not yet know. I imagine him saddened thinking about the lonely future that awaited him. Thinking of what profit all the creation would be if you do not have someone to share it with and enjoy it. Then, the LORD did it. He blessed him with what his heart so longed for. Forming him to his precious treasure, his wife, his right help, his inheritance. When she saw him there was no doubt in him that she and only she had been created for him.
When I met my beloved Arlene I finally understood this verse where it is read, bone of my bones. I listened to him speak and something in me recognized him. She was different, we shared the same passion, to Christ. I told her about my dreams and she knew exactly where we were going. We spoke the same language. Even before entering into a relationship with her, I rejoiced in her joy and hurt in her pain. She had what I lacked, the other half of the orange. Like Adam, I found my best help. And when I found that waiting and process of sanctification to hold him in my arms, it was insignificant.
If you still can not find the other half of your orange, do not despair, because if the LORD has deposited in you that longing to be with your partner, He will also bless you with that person who is the bone of your bones. And when you know that wait and preparation process will be something insignificant. Remember, God is faithful. He will give you what you long for. Just wait and prepare your heart for your other half.
Go for it because today you know that the other half of your orange exists.
