most moments in junior high were embarrassing
everything was a reason for incessant stressing
I wore hip-hugging skirts to school
and then wouldn’t’ get up to answer a question
leers and whistles came from the boys in class
making me desperate to hide my ass
as usual, arising late from sleep one morn
I donned my coat, hurrying like hell
hoping I wouldn’t be late once more
as I have already been warned
bolting from home before the bell
face flushed, plastered with sweat
I passed the usual delinquent gang
hanging out on the school steps
I slid into my seat just in time
averting being late, a mighty crime
the teacher walked in and said, “take off your coat
and stay awhile, Eva, and put away your tote”
I arose to obey and as I unclothed a loud gasp
could be heard from all in the class
quickly I re-donned my coat, super fast
underneath was nothing but my bare ass
mortified I ran home vowing never to re-turn
shame permanently etched like a third degree burn
into my young and yet fragile mind
forever humiliated by my behind
