Hey dear Hive friends, first of all I would like to wish you all a pleasant day and hope you had a weekend that was full of positive experience! Today I would like to talk about mythology and hope you can learn new things.
Recently, I have already written something about the Aztecs who are known as natives of today's Mexico and who should be interested in the contribution will find this one here. Today I would like to write something about the Maya and today still exist over 6 million descendants of this formative culture. It is assumed that the Maya created their culture over 4000 years ago and were particularly known for their high culture and were considered very innovative and already knew time calculations and even designed their own writings. Even when it comes to astrology, they had already known a lot and among other things, they have already been known for their famous Mayan calendar, which was considered a sophisticated system. The area inhabited by the ancient Maya were today's Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras and many tradition from that time unfortunately perished and in the 19th century, this culture began to be explored more intensively and there is still a lot to explore to this day. The Mayan culture also disappeared long before Spanish sailors conquered America and it is believed that this was due to environmental disasters or wars. According to old discoveries, the Maya already had a lot of knowledge about agriculture and were known for their enormous buildings such as temples and this era was known as a preclassic period.
The next formative epoch was the classical period, which was from about 400 to 900 AD and at that time they already built enormous cities that were already very well known for the infrastructure and had thousands of inhabitants. One of the most famous of their cities was Chichén Itzá, which was located on the Yucatán peninsula and was in the middle of the jungle and is one of the 7 new wonders of the world of antiquity and it was also considered a large trading center with an enormous political power. The city was also dedicated to the god Kukulcan and interesting is probably also the pyramid of Kukulcan which was also known by Spanish conquerors as El Castillo. The next known epoch was the post-classical period from 900 to 1500 AD and this period has left many questions unanswered and at that time many left their cities and also changed their architecture and it is assumed that democratisation was responsible for this. Similar to other cultures, the Maya also knew an underworld and worship the universe and also had a diverse religious cult in which they had worshipped many different gods. The Maya were known for dividing themselves into different areas with different religious views and often it also came to each other.
Thanks for taking the time to read through my post and I hope you like it and can learn something new about this interesting topic, I created the works of art with the help of artificial intelligence!
