Here are pictures of two unknown specimen of minerals which have one thing in common, both contain the chemical element uranium. The existing proportion of uranium can be made visible with the help of ultraviolet light and I find it is looking very fascinating in the pictures and UV lamps are definitely an important auxiliary tool for mineral collectors. Uranium is named after the planet Uranus, which in turn in Greek mythology is associated with the god Uranus who is also known as the personification of the sky and this element was first isolated by the mineralogist Martin Heinrich Klaproth (1743 - 1817). Klaproth is also known for the discovery of other important elements such as titanium or strontium and he first isolated uranium from the mineral Uraninite and uranium is the heaviest element. There is a lot of energy in uranium and it can be found worldwide and is mostly located in the earth's crust as well as oceans and it is a natural element that has accompanied humanity for eternal years. Worldwide, more than 200 minerals are known which contain uranium and on average one ton of rock contains about two grams of uranium and is much more common than silver or gold.

Uranium is often controversial as a natural element, but every human and animal contains traces of uranium and it occurs in small quantities almost everywhere such as in water, food, rocks and even in the air.
