Hey dear Hive friends, first of all I would like to welcome every reader to my new post and hope you are doing well! Today I would like to present pictures of an enchanting spectacle in the night sky and go into the mythology and hope you can expand your knowledge.
Here you can see pictures of the moon which I have taken and the great thing is that I was a partial lunar eclipse and it means that a part of the moon is covered with a shadow. This event occurs about two to four times a year and this kind of lunar eclipse occurs when the core shadow hits only part of the moon's surface and this event also occurs in the mythology of different cultures. It was not always considered a good sign and in the Norse mythology a lunar eclipse is a sign that evil will come to humanity and it was also associated with the wolf Hati who swallowed the moon. Even in ancient Egypt it was considered a bad sign and in ancient Egypt or Mesopotamia people thought that the sky would swallow the moon to take the light from them and it was often considered a sign of negative events. In ancient Egypt it was also associated with the god Seth and in ancient China it was thought that it was a dragon which is devouring the moon.
Especially a total lunar eclipse was a very bad omen and people thought that war, illness or other bad things would be imminent. Other cultures thought that it was a wound of the moon which was triggered, for example, by an arrow and in the old Mesopotamia a lunar eclipse is connected to a country and a lunar eclipse symbolizes an attack. When it comes to the symbolic meaning, the whole thing looks more positive again and it was connected with flowing transitions and the connection of male or female power. Other peoples thought that the moon was injured and the lunar eclipse was a kind of healing process and other cultures saw it as a sign of coming together and it was associated with ritual occasions. The legends that revolve around this event are extremely diverse and there are many other local or more well-known legends in which the lunar eclipse appears and in some pictures I even had the additional luck to photograph a lunar corona which beautify the pictures.
Many thanks for stopping by and I hope you like my new contribution! I captured these pictures with my Camera Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens!
