The word occultism is originally derived from the Latin word occultum which means secret or hidden and occultism has been known since ancient times and refers to the mystical, magical, supernatural and is often associated with secret knowledge. Extrasensory perceptions or hidden abilities are also part of occultism and usually form the basis of occult teachings and alchemical principles were also strongly influenced by them and a well-known personality who has strongly turned to occultism was the contemporary of Paracelsus, Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa von Nettesheim who is particularly famous for his book De occulta philosophia in which he dealt with many occult practices and alchemy.
