Hey dear Hive Community, first of all I would like to welcome you to my new post and hope you had a nice day and special experiences! For the #monomad challenge, I would like to share black and white pictures of a flower and hope you like it.
You can see here red campion, which is also scientifically called Silene dioica and although they emit a relatively neutral fragrance, they are still ecologically very valuable for insects. The botanical name is associated with Greek mythology and is derived from Silenus, the forest gods and the companions of the wine god Dionysus.
Red campion was already used as a medicinal plant in ancient times against various diseases and especially against snake bites. The most important properties is the antibiotic effect and it can also help against viruses and bacteria. It can have a positive effect on the immune system and also externally it can help against skin diseases such as inflammation and can be found in cosmetic products.
The active ingredients are bitter substances and saponins and especially the seeds and roots are very interesting from a medical point of view. It is very important to note that the plant is slightly toxic because of the saponins, you have to pay attention to the correct application and if you are not sure, you should only use homeopathic preparations. As always, it should be noted that you should always ask your trusted doctor or pharmacist about the correct use, dosage and possible side effects!
Also the old alchemists also appreciated the power of red campion and it has already been mentioned by the famous cult figure and alchemist Paracelsus. Silene dioica is also connected to the Moon and from a spiritual point of view it is connected to the development of personality. The strong color also creates its very own energy and is also a great motif for drawing.
