Hey dear Hive community, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my new post and hope you had a day that was full of positive experiences! Today I would like to bring a plant a little closer and hope you can expand your knowledge a little.
You can see here Lace Aloe which is also known under the scientific name Aristaloe aristata and Aloe Veras are generally known for thousands of years and the botanical name aristata originally comes from the Greek and means as much as bristle which refers to the shape of the leaves and was first described by the British botanist Adrian Hardy Haworth (1767 - 1833). This compact plant is very suitable as a houseplant and one reason to cultivate it is, for example, air-purging effect and it requires hardly any care and is suitable for smaller rooms due to the compact size. It does not require much light and can sometimes cope without water for a few weeks and you like to let the substrate dry out without the plant harming. In warmer climate zones, you can also plant it outside and it can also survive mild winters, but is usually not frost-resistant and should hibernate in time. Aloe vera species are interesting medicinal plants Aristaloe aristata, however, is one of the poisonous representatives of the genus and the leaves are poisonous and at first glance the leaves may look prickly, but are completely harmless. The reproduction is also very simple and you can multiply it perfect with the help of offshoots and it can also be multiplied well with the help of seeds.
Historically, aloe vera is strongly anchored and has been highly appreciated as a medicinal plant for thousands of years and often associated with protection and patience from a symbolic point of view. The ancient Egyptians revered it as a sacred plant and it was often associated with eternal life and was of great importance for the production of cosmetic products and therefore it was often associated with beauty. Cleopatra also relied a lot on aloe vera and it is often associated with femininity and the moon. As a gift, this plant expresses friendship, affection and health and from a spiritual point of view it can also help to increase the vibrations in the place where it stands and it should help to attract happiness. As mentioned above, it is also very useful to purify the air and filter pollutants from the air by absorbing carbon dioxide from the environment and emit oxygen. Finally, I would like to mention again that I have mentioned the general effect of aloe vera here and this type is toxic and in case of illness you always have to ask your doctor or pharmacist about the right medicine!
