Silence is important especially during certain parts of a scary movie before something jumps out. Also in music silence can be important and also when adding breaks in the beat and tempo. Then build up the beat back again. It's an important contrast and part of the music - as opposed to complete noise or complete silence. As a DJ the dancers get happy when I temporarily drop the beat to ambient sounds (people can take a breath + say hi to friends etc) and then build up a nice tempo or drop a beat hard on people's faces
